You might be such a beginner you’ve never even drive BY a yoga studio. Or, you might be fairly experienced, but your practice has either gone stale, or it’s just been a while since you stepped onto your mat. Either way, come create a new relationship to your body and your life.
We will cover the absolute basics. Of course, there will be a weekly yoga sequence; and because these poses build onto each other-your practice will expand from an increasingly strong foundation each week. Peppered into that training, you will master incidental skills that can enrich your practice in surprising ways: like studio etiquette, and mindful ways of using and handling the props. In addition, you will receive a weekly email in between classes to keep your motivation going strong. And, if you’re a Facebook friend, you can dip into the dedicated page for a daily inspirational quotes.

What you can expect to come away with:

Tina Lear is certified by the Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT200 and RYT500 levels. She has taught over 1000 hours of yoga. She also leads the Long Island Dharmata Sangha in bi-weekly meditation sessions, and volunteers with Liberation Prison Yoga, teaching yoga at Rikers Island.

CHAIR YOGA SERIES: Will Return this Fall, 2017

In this workshop you will learn how to use a chair in your teaching or your personal practice of yoga asana. The chair will be used as a tool to help you and your students deepen the practice. It will also help to achieve and maintain correct alignment and enable you, or your students, to be in the poses longer. This will give you a chance to really explore the body while in the poses. This is just another way to experience the physical practice of yoga.

This 4-part series is offered to teachers as well as students who would like to deepen their practice.
The series will consist of:
1. Standing Poses
2. Forward Bends
3. Back Bends
4. Restorative Poses

Susan Brotter, RYT200

Many of you may already know Susan from her Monday 5:30pm Gentle Yoga class. Well, lucky us! She’ll be teaching “Relax and Restore” on Thursdays as well now, bringing a deep sense of peace and release to the body and mind. Treat yourself to this class. Bring the quiet strength of your life back into all your days. The class includes some gentle stretches along with restorative yoga poses.

Yoga Booty Ballet is a dynamic fusion of Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga,
body sculpting, cardiovascular dance and meditation that will make you feel
strong, confident and beautiful. YBB is fun, it’s easy to practice and it polishes the body and the soul. The meditation element serves to focus. The dance portion promotes endurance and detoxification. The ballet section increases strength and bone density. The yoga promotes flexibility, balance, and inner wellness.

Students consistently complete class feeling better about themselves than when they arrive. Marianne keeps classes easy to follow and non-competitive, so that anyone participating can truly enjoy his/her body. The result is a totally fun class. YBB is be done in sneakers and also barefoot. Please remember also to bring water and your yoga mat if you want–or you can use the ones at YPC.

Diane Modico of RVC YOGA: Ashtanga Vinyasa!

Yoga & Polarity Center welcomes Diane Modico, a new addition to our teaching community. Diane teaches all over the area, and focusses on teaching yoga to young adults and children with various disabilities at TAPAS in Long Beach. Summers, she teaches yoga to a wide array of people on the beautiful shores of Fire Island.

And, wow. This woman is active and alive in the world! While raising her five children in RVC since 1996, Diane has become a Parent Member for the RVC School District Committee on Special Education. Fluent in Sign Language, she is also a member of the PSA at Cleary School for the Deaf.

Her Wednesday 7pm class is enriched by eighteen years of practice, and a dedication to embodying the fundamentals of yoga. She completed her 200-hour yoga certification under the highly qualified and mindful tutelage of Greg Fine at Fuel the Soul. Using the Ashtanga primary series as a guide, her well rounded vinyasa class includes verbal cues, proper body awareness techniques and recognition of proper alignment. Show up on Wednesday evening, and you will walk out feeling so rejuvenated!

The Yoga Polarity Center home of the Long Island Institute for Yoga Therapy is pleased to announce its second cohort of the IAYT Accredited Therapist Training Program starting in Fall 2017.The Long Island Institute for Yoga Therapy seeks to train Yoga Therapists to have the greatest possible foundations in classical and theoretical knowledge and to have an adequate knowledge of the biomedical systems from an integrative perspective as it is needed for Yoga Therapy.

Our program also seeks to provide each student with the ability to assess the needs of clients in a holistic manner, designing and implementing effective programs through the integration of diverse
approaches. We focus on the critical thinking skills and the science based literacy needed to bring Yoga Therapy into public service as a valid and useful integrative health practice.
